Welcome to the Statistics and Computational Biology group at IMISE / University of Leipzig headed by Korbinian Strimmer. Bioinformatics is a highly interdisciplinary subject at the frontiers of statistics, computer science and biology. We are particularly interested in biostatistical analysis of omics data and biomedical applications. At present, our focus lies on

Graphical overview over algorithms and methods developed in our group.
- mass spectrometry for clinical proteomics,
- cancer gene expression time course data and biological networks,
- biomarker discovery from high-dimensional SNP data, and
- analysis of RNA-Seq data.
- variable selection with correlated predictors,
- multiple testing with false discovery rates and higher criticism, and
- shrinkage methods and logical probability.
Our group was coorganizer of the workshop Complex Stochastic Systems in Biology and Medicine 2004 in Munich and we have hosted the computational systems biology conference WCSB 2008 in Leipzig. More recently, we helped to organize the life science session at GOCPS 2010.
